The tale of light

A lone candle is shining
In a long dark room.
Melting in its own warmth,
Flickering in the gentle breeze.

A lone candle is shining
Soft at first, then bright with time
In the deep thick darkness,
It provides the only sight.

A lone candle is shining
Enchanting the shadows to come alive,
The air smells forbidden now
For the shadows will dance tonight.

A lone candle is shining
Writing its stories with its own wax,
No one will otherwise know
The tale of its burning life.

A lone candle is shining
Melting, bending and dying,
The darkness is creeping up now,
Bored by this feeble fight.

A lone candle is no longer shining
Burned out till the end of its wick
The darkness reign again,
But the melted candle sings the story of light.

  1. Wow! Sometimes happy endings are best left out of the door.
The story of light is simple, yet elegant. As they say, humans might light up the earth, but the deep space is dark!
We have the ambition to light up the space. Just like the candle had!

  2. This is so nice… wonderful poem to read… you have brilliantly penned the journey from lightning of candle to burning out with no shining… I liked this stanza a lot…

The tale of its burning life.

    Excellent work…
